Project feasibility

The land gets flooded, but does that make it a good site for a nutrient reduction wetland? What are the right trees for my right place? How hard is it to establish a lowland meadow? How do I avoid all the environmental constraints that will leave me with no hair and no hares? With extensive access to key data sets and mapping knowledge that uses the Land App and ArcGIS, I can help you assess the realistic options for nature-based projects on your land.
Credit approval

The tools to calculate BNG and carbon are complicated beasts. Fortunately, I have developed a set of easy to use "ready reckoners" that let you quickly see how different project designs on different land parcels will translate into Defra BNG Metric units and Carbon, using approved carbon credit standards for a whole range of projects(woodlands, peatlands, soils and hedgerows).
The fun begins when carrying out calculations for nutrient mitigation - these are so heavily influenced by soils, rainfall, hydrology and land use that a simple approach will not work. Being fluent in FarmScoper, flow transfer models, GIS, wetland performance models and trusted by Natural England, this kind of work takes me to a happy place.

Cashflows and risks

Knowing your credits is not the same as knowing your profits. I have up-to-date knowledge of buyer demand and real prices from voluntary carbon, nutrient mitigation and BNG deals across the UK. When you couple this with my financial modelling skills, close experience of contracts, tax and risk mitigation, plus a wide network of partners who know the real costs of nature-based projects, then we can build cashflow models that show you the impact on your bottom line .
Deal brokering

Listening to people and understanding their needs, seeing the possibilities but being honest about the prospects and never giving up on making something happen: that is what I learned to love when setting up the Bristol Avon Catchment Market and the Somerset Catchment Market. Both are now successfully trading in nutrient mitigation and BNG, and provided me with the springboard for going it alone. I am now doing deals on a more direct basis and still enjoying the buzz when a deal gets done for nature to recover and everybody profits. I can calculate what you need and find you a solution, sort out heads of terms and keep things moving with Natural England, the Environment Agency, Forestry England and Local Planning Authorities.
